Winners of the Alcoa Peel Volunteer of the Year Award 2024

Alison Kew
Peel Volunteer of the Year 2024
Alison joined the Mandurah SES in January 2011 and since then has been involved in many requests for assistance from the community as well as qualifying in the many competencies required as an SES first responder.
During Alison’s 13+ years she has gone from a rescue member to a Section leader. Alison is the “spare” to step in – the moment an extra Deputy Manager is required in any of the four areas, Rescue, Operations, Logistics and Administration.
On the occasions that Alison has taken on any of these roles at short notice, her worth has been immediately noticed. Her organisational and leadership skills are required to be effective in a first responder role. Alison is a positive role model for our volunteers and cadets and is a true asset to WA SES.
Her strong work ethic and never-give-up attitude are two of her many outstanding attributes. During these 13 years, Alison has completed an average of 250 hours a year of response and training.
Another example of Alison’s strong community support is her role as a foster carer for babies and small children with more than 120 of these in short or long-term care over the past 8 years.

Throughout his six years of service, Corey has averaged an impressive 280 hours annually dedicated to response operations and training.
